Recap: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions
The Rye Thunderbolts struggled with assists on Thursday (the Colorado Springs Christian Lions had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Rye was outmatched by Colorado Springs Christian on the road and fell 66-11. Rye has not had much luck with Colorado Springs Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Hailey George was Rye's leading scorer, having posted five points. George also led the team in rebounds with six.
Taci Ehrlich took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Grace Minihane was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 12 steals for Colorado Springs Christian. Minihane is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Kinley Asp was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Rye has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Colorado Springs Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rye will face off against The Vanguard School at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vanguard School presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rye in Colorado (The Vanguard School is ranked 123rd, while Rye is ranked 306th). As for Colorado Springs Christian, they will head out on the road to take on James Irwin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully James Irwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 43 last Tuesday.
