Mankato East came tearing into Friday's matchup with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Owatonna Huskies 72-44. The 72-point effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Mankato East's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.8 points over those games. As for Owatonna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Coming up, Mankato East will be playing at home against Faribault at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owatonna, they are taking a road trip to challenge Century at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Century knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Owatonna likes a good challenge.
