Softball Game Preview: Hawthorne Cougars vs. South Gate Rams

The Hawthorne Cougars will take on the South Gate Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hawthorne will be strutting in after a win while South Gate will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, everything went Hawthorne's way against Saddleback as Hawthorne made off with a 17-2 victory. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, South Gate is still winless after their game against Leuzinger on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Olympians.

Hawthorne's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.3 runs. As for South Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Hawthorne skirted past South Gate 7-6 in their previous matchup back in February of 2018. Will Hawthorne repeat their success, or does South Gate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
