Baseball Recap: Nogales Victorious

Nogales got themselves on the board against Sierra Vista on Tuesday, but Sierra Vista never followed suit. They came out on top against the Dons by a score of 5-0. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 2-0 win back in March.

Not much got past Eddie Salazar, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Sierra Vista off the board. Nogales is 3-1 when Salazar posts eight or more strikeouts, but 7-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Nathan Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Ortega, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Nogales and bumps their season record up to 10-15. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Sierra Vista, they moved to 8-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Nogales nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
