Baseball Recap: Duval Charter Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Duval Charter entered their tilt with Old Plank Christian Academy on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Defenders. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.

Connor Portelli looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Michael Grimaldi was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. Hayden Haynes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Duval Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Plank Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .360.

Duval Charter pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Duval Charter will face off against Andrew Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Plank Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
