Baseball Game Preview: Schaeffer Academy Lions vs. Mabel-Canton Cougars

Schaeffer Academy is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Mabel-Canton a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Schaeffer Academy Lions will host the Mabel-Canton Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Schaeffer Academy's offense. They lost 24-0 to Southland on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mabel-Canton came up short against Lyle/Pacelli on Tuesday and fell 6-1.

Mabel-Canton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Underbakke, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Underbakke has hit this season.

Schaeffer Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mabel-Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Schaeffer Academy suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Mabel-Canton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
