Basketball Recap: Fairbury Jeffs vs. Sutton Mustangs
Fairbury lost against Sutton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fairbury Jeffs had to suffer through a 82-44 loss at the hands of the Sutton Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Jeffs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Mustangs are ranked 40th).
When it comes to explaining why Fairbury lost, don't look at James Martin. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 6 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Brodie Prellwitz, who posted seven points.
Harrison Herndon was nothing short of spectacular for Sutton: he had 26 points. Those 26 points gave Herndon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Reed, who earned 16 points.
Fairbury's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Sutton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.
