Recap: Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs vs. Whitefield Academy Lions
The Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs won the last time they faced the Whitefield Academy Lions, and things went their way on Friday too. Shawnee Mission Christian walked away with a 37-30 victory over Whitefield Academy.
Jeydan Umberger was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Shawnee Mission Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Kleczka, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds.
Martha Guensche and Natalie Jones certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Guensche scored ten points, while Jones scored five points.
Shawnee Mission Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Whitefield Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawnee Mission Christian will take on Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Shawnee Mission Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cornerstone Family at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Cornerstone Family focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
