Softball Recap: Mescalero Apache Chiefs vs. Hatch Valley Bears

After flying high against Socorro back in March, Mescalero Apache came back down to earth. The Mescalero Apache Chiefs fell just short of the Hatch Valley Bears by a score of 7-5 on Friday.

For Hatch Valley's part, Alaya Martinez spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Genesis Angel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. She hasn't dropped below three RBI for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Larae Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
