Recap: McCormick Chiefs vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs
It was a good run, but the McCormick Chiefs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-25 loss at the hands of Silver Bluff. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McCormick has scored all season.
Krystal Johnson was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Silver Bluff. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makya Bing, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
McCormick's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for Silver Bluff, their win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
McCormick and Calhoun Falls Charter will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Calhoun Falls Charter is ranked 221st, while McCormick is ranked 202nd). As for Silver Bluff, they will be playing at home against Strom Thurmond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Silver Bluff's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
