Baseball Recap: Altus Comes Up Short

Altus was the 16-8 winner over Clinton when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs lost 14-7 to the Red Tornadoes on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tate Saxon and Jack Owenby did some serious damage despite the final result: Saxon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Owenby went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Owenby is becoming a predictor of Altus' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 8-15-1 when he doesn't).

Altus' defeat dropped their record down to 13-16-1. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-21.

Looking ahead, Altus will venture away from home to face off against Sayre at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
