Baseball Recap: Fairbury Has No Trouble Against Falls City

Fairbury won the last time they faced Falls City and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jeffs came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-1. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Jeffs this season.

Dom Joe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fairbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Nippert, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Nippert posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Lucas Livingston also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Fairbury and bumps their season record up to 3-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Falls City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Fairbury is taking a road trip to face off against Central City/Centura at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Falls City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tekamah-Herman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Falls City is facing Tekamah-Herman at the right time seeing as Tekamah-Herman is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
