Baseball Recap: Mortimer Jordan Triumphs

Mortimer Jordan lost to Jasper on Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils walked away with an 8-4 win over the Jasper Vikings.

John Owen Dean was excellent, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Mortimer Jordan: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Maldonado, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Dean wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mortimer Jordan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Mortimer Jordan is 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mortimer Jordan now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Jasper, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mortimer Jordan will venture away from home to challenge Gulf Shores at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jasper, they will head out on the road to take on Haleyville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
