Basketball Recap: Hayward Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Hayward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 57-42 bruising from the Rice Lake Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Warriors are ranked 28th).

Rice Lake found their leader in sophomore Addison Schmidt, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave Schmidt a new career-high in steals (seven). Adaline Sheplee was another key player, going 9 of 19 on her way to 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Hayward's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10. As for Rice Lake, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Hayward has already played their next contest (against Cumberland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Rice Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-51 win against Marshall on the 4th.
