Basketball Recap: Tupelo Christian Prep Comes Up Short

Tupelo Christian Prep entered their matchup against Wheeler on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Tupelo Christian Prep lost 67-47 to Wheeler. The game marked Tupelo Christian Prep's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Ashton Beene had another great game (as he tends to do), going 10-for-15 en route to 30 points and seven rebounds for Wheeler. Wheeler is 2-1 when Beene posts 30 or more points, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Peirce Spencer, who posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and seven assists.

Tupelo Christian Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Wheeler, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Tupelo Christian Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Blue Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on December 5. As for Wheeler, they will challenge Falkner at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler will be up against Falkner's rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
