Stratford Academy falls despite strong effort from Khalil Green

The Stratford Academy Eagles pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Christian. Stratford Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Stratford Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Khalil Green. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Matson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Trinity Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will George, who scored 17 points along with six assists and two steals. George has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Clay, who scored 14 points along with three blocks.

Stratford Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Trinity Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.

Stratford Academy will head out on the road to square off against First Presbyterian Day at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stratford Academy is facing First Presbyterian Day at the right time seeing as First Presbyterian Day is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Trinity Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. Central Fellowship Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Trinity Christian likes a good challenge.
