Softball Recap: Wirt County Drops Season-High Score on Calhoun

Wirt County scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Calhoun Red Devils by a score of 12-11. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Cassie Startcher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Allison Neff was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Wirt County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Calhoun, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Coming up, Wirt County will be playing at home against Webster County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Calhoun, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Wahama at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
