Baseball Recap: Pettisville Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Pettisville had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Antwerp Archers a 14-0 shutout. For the Blackbirds, this counts as revenge for the 14-0 victory the Archers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

Rylan Warner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Warner was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Ripke, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Josh Morris, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Antwerp's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Pettisville will square off against North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Pettisville's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Antwerp, they will challenge Edon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
