Softball Recap: Apollo Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Apollo Ridge came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Brentwood Spartans with a sharp 15-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mikaila Ditty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.

In other batting news, Cassidy Ryan was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Saxion, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Apollo Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Apollo Ridge pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Brentwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Apollo Ridge will welcome South Allegheny at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brentwood, they will square off against Northgate at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flames have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
