MaxPreps Top 25 national high school softball rankings: Final rankings ... for now

With season on hold due to coronavirus pandemic, here's how the season stands.

Let’s hope for the seniors and all the players out there across the country that this is just a pause in play.

While we wait out and hold onto the positive thinking that the COVID-19 virus will be controlled soon, here is where we left off with the MaxPreps Top 25 national high school softball rankings.

In many states teams have yet to even hit the dirt, so all we can go off is who those teams had returning.



In Texas, No. 8 Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu, Texas) was already on Game 31. In Florida, No. 1 Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton, Fla.) had played eight and during that time, the Mustangs have scored 84 runs while only given up four.

1. (Last week 1) Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton, Fla.), 8-0
You can't ask for a better start to the season for the No. 1 team in the country.

2. (2) Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.), 4-0
Let's hope this is not the last time we see Oklahoma commit Nicole May in a high school uniform.

3. (3) Los Alamitos (Calif.), 10-0
The fight for who's the top team in Southern California would be fun to watch.

4. (4) Norco (Calif.), 11-1
Norco wants a chance to repeat as section and national champions.

5. (5) Trenton (Fla.), 11-0
Trenton has outscored its opponents 133-8.



6. (6) Crescenta Valley (La Crescenta, Calif.) 9-1
The Falcons are right there as one of the top squads in all of California.

7. (7) Forney (Texas) 15-2
Forney has scored 10 or more runs in seven games.

8. (8) Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu, Texas), 19-2
Barbers Hill has allowed seven runs in 21 games.

Didn't get a chance to get on the dirt this spring.

10. (10) Chino Hills (Calif.) 9-2
The Huskies have one of the most dangerous lineups in the country. They have hit 16 home runs so far.

11. (11) Cooper City (Fla.), 7-0
A team with a chance to be one of the op teams in all of Florida.

12. (12) Shadow Ridge (Las Vegas), 0-0
The Vegas power didn't get its season started.

The Saints have a powerful lineup and are off to a perfect start.

14. (14) Hoover (Clendenin, W. Va.), 0-0
Hoover is seeking its fourth straight state title.



15. (15) Donovan Catholic (Toms River, N.J.), 0-0
Notre Dame commit Karina Gaskins and her teammates hoping to get a chance to repeat as champions.

16. (16) Male (Louisville, Ky.), 0-0
Male riding a 39-game win streak entering the season.

17. (17) Huntley (Ill.), 0-0
Huntley look for the school's second state title.

18. (18) New Palestine (Ind.), 0-0
The Dragons are seeking a fourth state title.

19. (19) Escanaba (Mich.), 0-0
Eskymos want a chance to three-peat.

20. (20) Garfield (Seattle), 0-0
Bulldogs seeking back-to-back titles.

21. (21) Lawrence Free State (Lawrence, Kan.), 0-0

The Firebirds are after a third-straight championship.



22. (22) Masuk (Monroe, Conn.), 0-0
Masuk could make a run at back-to-back-to-back titles.

23. (23) Ironwood Ridge (Tucson, Ariz.), 8-2
The battle for top team in Arizona is something we all hope to see.

24. (24) Winter Springs (Fla.), 8-1

Bears off to a strong start in Florida.

25. (25) Coral Springs Charter (Coral Springs, Fla.), 6-1
The Panthers lone loss was to No. 11 Cooper City.
