Baseball Game Preview: Woodland Cougars vs. Frontier Mustangs

Woodland and Frontier are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. Woodland will be playing at home against Frontier at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Woodland fell victim to Drummond and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Woodland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pate Nibeck, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Meanwhile, Frontier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 14-0 to Garber. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Frontier's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Woodland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woodland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Frontier struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
