Lyndhurst never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Secaucus on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots a 10-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Not much got past Matt Makar, who gave up just five hits to keep Secaucus off the board.
At the plate, Shawn Bellenger was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Max Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Lyndhurst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Secaucus only posted an OBP of .308.
Lyndhurst has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Secaucus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
