Softball Recap: Williamston Triumphs

The Williamston Hornets beat the Byron Eagles 7-3 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Olivia Yadav spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shea O'Neil was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Keira Heathcock also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Williamston lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Williamston now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Byron, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williamston will host Lansing Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Byron, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Mt. Morris at 4:00 p.m.
