Volleyball Recap: Granite Bay Grizzlies vs. Lodi Flames

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Granite Bay had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They skirted past the Lodi Flames 3-2. The Grizzlies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Flames, too.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-102) Granite Bay actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-20, 16-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Several Flames players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mariah Azua, who had 13 digs. Another player making a difference was Isabella Davalle, who had nine digs.

Granite Bay is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-17 record this season. As for Lodi, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-8.

Granite Bay will take on Vacaville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vacaville will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Granite Bay surely won't give up without a fight. Lodi does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
