Basketball Game Preview: Newaygo Lions vs. Coopersville Broncos

The Newaygo Lions will square off against the Coopersville Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Newaygo has three straight wins, Coopersville has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Newaygo beat Chippewa Hills 41-37. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Warriors are ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coopersville lost to Kenowa Hills at home by a 50-32 margin on Thursday. The Broncos were down 41-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Newaygo pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Coopersville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.

Things could have been worse for Newaygo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-29 loss to Coopersville in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can Newaygo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
