Softball Recap: Jefferson Area Gets the Win

The Jefferson Area Falcons earned a 6-2 victory over the North Rangers on Thursday.

Olivia Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Allison Hill, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Demattia, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Jefferson Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted a batting average of .080.

Jefferson Area's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Jefferson Area will challenge Austintown-Fitch at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Rangers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
