Baseball Recap: Riverbank Takes a Loss

Riverbank had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-18 to make it 13. They came up short against the Calaveras Red Hawks, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Red Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-2 loss back in March.

Riverbank saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Esteban Ruiz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

As for Calaveras, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-16. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

On Calaveras' side, Kaeden Hudson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Hudson has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Evan Janssen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Masson Powers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Riverbank will challenge Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Calaveras, they will square off against Big Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
