The Drumright Tornadoes will head out on the road to challenge the Hulbert Riders at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. Drumright will be strutting in after a victory while Hulbert will be coming in after a defeat.
Drumright is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Yale on Monday as they made off with a 12-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tornadoes considering their one-run performance the game before.
Austin Tull made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tull was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Drumright let Conrad Reed and Cody Gregory run wild. Reed went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Gregory went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Gregory a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Blackburn, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Braggs hit Hulbert with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Riders came up short against the Wildcats, falling 13-5. The Riders just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Logan Girdener made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
Drumright's record is now 10-7. As for Hulbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Drumright came out on top in a nail-biter against Hulbert in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, sneaking past 13-12. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Riders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
