Baseball Recap: Woodward Comes Up Short

Woodward had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it ten. They came up short against the Bowsher BlueRacers, falling 29-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the BlueRacers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 back in April.

As for Bowsher, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4. Considering they have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Bowsher's part, Donovan McClellan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McClellan was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roy McCrandall, who fired off nine RBI, three triples, and four runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Kyle Schropp was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Woodward does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bowsher, they will face off against Emmanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something the BlueRacers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
