Baseball Game Preview: Matanzas Pirates vs. Menendez Falcons

Matanzas is 2-8 against Menendez since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Matanzas Pirates will face off against the Menendez Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Matanzas is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Palatka, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Matanzas got a good showing from Daniel Reyes, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Meanwhile, Menendez lost 10-1 to Mandarin on Friday.

Menendez also got a good showing from Brooks Taylor, who struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Menendez, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Matanzas came up short against Menendez in their previous meeting on February 6th, falling 8-5. Can Matanzas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
