Softball Game Preview: Westview Knights vs. Estrella Foothills Wolves

For the second straight game, Westview will face off against Estrella Foothills. The Knights will challenge the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Westview took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over Estrella Foothills. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the game before.

For Estrella Foothills' part, Ilse Penaloza Leyva put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Penaloza Leyva has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Geneviecia O'Shea was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Elila McFall, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Estrella Foothills is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16. As for Westview, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-6.
