Basketball Recap: Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Comes Up Short

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They came up short against the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars, falling 49-25. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Aspen Larson went supernova for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, putting up 23 points along with seven boards and five steals. Larson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Hilton, who posted eight points in addition to 13 rebounds and three steals.

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas dropped their record down to 6-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they and Moapa Valley will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Moapa Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pinecrest Academy Cadence surely won't give up without a fight.
