Soccer Game Preview: Wilson Central vs. Smyrna

Wilson Central hasn't had much luck against Smyrna recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wilson Central Wildcats will look to defend their home pitch against the Smyrna Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wilson Central will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Smith County on Thursday. Wilson Central was the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Smith County. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.

Meanwhile, Smyrna put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand LaVergne a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one goal.

The victory got Wilson Central back to even at 2-2. As for Smyrna, their win bumped their record up to 3-0-1.

Wilson Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Smyrna when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-2. Will Wilson Central repeat their success, or does Smyrna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
