Football Recap: Cottondale Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Cottondale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 33-28 to the Sneads Pirates on Friday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cottondale lost, don't look at Nick Heinemann. Despite the final result, he rushed for 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 190 yards and two TDs. Zacarius Collins was another key player, rushing for 111 yards on only ten carries.

Cottondale has already played their next matchup, a 48-16 victory against FAMU DRS on the 29th. As for Sneads, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 37-10 defeat against Seminole County on the 29th.
