Senior averaged 19.8 points per game to lead Loyola Academy to Class 4A final four.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Aubrey Galvan of
Loyola Academy (Wilmette) is the 2024-25 Illinois MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-7 senior point guard led the Ramblers to a 34-4 record and fourth-place finish in the Class 4A tournament.
For the season, Galvan averaged 19.8 points, 3.3 steals, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. She broke single-season school records for points (734) and 3-pointers (111).
In an 80-74 double overtime loss to Fremd (Palatine) in the Class 4A semifinals, Galvan tallied 37 points, five steals and four assists.
Committed to Vanderbilt, Galvan finished as one of the top 20 scorers in state history with 2,132 points.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in April. Past selections include 2024 WNBA Most Valuable Player A'ja Wilson (2014) as well as 2024 All-WNBA first team picks Caitlin Clark (2020), Napheesa Collier (2015), Breanna Stewart (2012) and Alyssa Thomas (2010).
