Softball Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

Greenwood extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-20 in the process. They came up short against the Plainfield Quakers, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Quakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.

As for Plainfield, the win was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

For Plainfield's part, Kami Arnett made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Arnett has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Sidney Parks looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenzi Arnett, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Krista Haberkorn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Greenwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-1 loss against New Palestine on the 27th. As for Plainfield, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Brownsburg on the 28th.
