Basketball Recap: Emmanuel Christian Comes Up Short

Emmanuel Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Florala Wildcats, falling 65-6. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 798th, while the Wildcats are ranked 106th).

Rayshon Coleman was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points and seven steals for Florala. Coleman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah McMeans, who posted six points along with seven assists and five boards.

Emmanuel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Florala, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emmanuel Christian will square off against Kinston at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Florala, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Florala Wildcats face off against the Red Level Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Florala's favor as the squad sits on 18 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Red Level has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road.
