Baseball Recap: Fort Zumwalt East Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fort Zumwalt East entered their tilt with Fort Zumwalt South on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Lions have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dominic Pandolfo made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten games.

In other batting news, Michael Gettemeier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Fort Zumwalt East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fort Zumwalt East's record now sits at 17-11. As for Fort Zumwalt South, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-23.

Coming up, Fort Zumwalt East will head out to face off against Liberty at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Zumwalt South, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Chaminade at 9:00 a.m.
