Basketball Recap: Valley Christian Piles Up the Points Against Coolidge

Valley Christian came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Coolidge Bears, posting an 84-36 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Valley Christian was led to victory by Colby Jessup and Carson Grier. Jessup went 10 of 17 on his way to 26 points and five assists, while Grier dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Jessup's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kyle Grier was another key player, going 7 for 15 en route to 16 points and six boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Coolidge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adarius Miguel, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Dees, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

Valley Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Coolidge, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.

Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 94-41 win against Thatcher on the 17th. As for Coolidge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-44 victory against Florence on the 17th.
