Basketball Recap: Douglas Comes Up Short

Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 51-26 to the Hopedale Blue Raiders. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.

When it comes to explaining why Douglas lost, don't look at Zach Sargent. Despite the final result, he posted eight points. Sargent continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hopedale to victory, but perhaps none more so than JJ Douglas, who earned 11 points. Nathan Rutkowski was another key player, putting up ten points.

Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hopedale, their record now sits at 9-1.

Douglas will host Sutton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hopedale, they will square off against Blackstone-Millville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Blackstone-Millville has won four straight at home, while Hopedale won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
