Baseball Recap: Westfall Gets the Win

Westfall gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Huntington Huntsmen. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on April 7th.

Noah Stonerock made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Caleb Lowe looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Stonerock wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Biegler, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Westfall and bumps their season record up to 9-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Huntington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Westfall is set to challenge their familiar foe Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Huntington will face off against rival Adena at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
