Basketball Game Preview: Davenport Broncos vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

The Davenport Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Fleming Island will come in with eight straight victories.

On Tuesday, Davenport came up short against Poinciana and fell 60-49. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Eagles are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Fleming Island hadn't done well against Andrew Jackson recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Fleming Island made off with a 55-54 win over Andrew Jackson. The 55-point effort marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Davenport better keep an eye on Carson Crawford. He was instrumental in Fleming Island's win, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 16 boards. The matchup was Crawford's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Baskin, who posted three points and four steals.

Fleming Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Fleming Island's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Davenport, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
