Basketball Recap: Magruder Takes a Loss

Magruder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 60-43 fall against the Poolesville Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-42 back in January.

Poolesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexavier Saunders led the charge by going 6-for-12 to rack up 19 points and five steals. The matchup was Saunders' fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Chukuwurah, who went 5-for-7 en route to 10 points and four steals.

Magruder's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Poolesville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Magruder will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Damascus at 5:30 p.m. As for Poolesville, they will challenge Rockville on Tuesday.
