Preview: Stockbridge Tigers vs. Pace Academy Knights
The Stockbridge Tigers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pace Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Stockbridge's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six games.
Stockbridge put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-0 win over Woodland on the road. Given Stockbridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Woodland is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jayden "duke" Scott, who rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Scott is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Simms, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Stockbridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Jared Anthony and Kam Reese who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Pace Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 27-20 to Luella.
Stockbridge's win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Pace Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything went Stockbridge's way against Pace Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Stockbridge made off with a 40-20 victory. Will Stockbridge repeat their success, or does Pace Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
