Baseball Game Preview: Proctor Rails vs. Marshall Hilltoppers

Proctor hasn't had much luck against Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rails are taking a road trip to take on the Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Proctor took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over International Falls. The victory continues a trend for the Rails in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Marshall strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Cloquet an 18-0 shutout. The Hilltoppers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Marshall's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Proctor, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Proctor might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Marshall when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Rails avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
