After a string of seven wins, Overton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Amherst Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.
Gracen Hughes paced Overton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Hughes got some help from Kyla Elfgren and her 21 assists. Halynn Hughes controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Breckyn Layne Veskerna was nothing short of spectacular for Amherst: she had 30 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Layne Veskerna has posted since back in September.
Overton's loss dropped their record down to 24-3. As for Amherst, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-5.
Overton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Kearney Catholic on the 21st. Amherst does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
