Football Game Preview: Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders vs. Oxon Hill Clippers

The Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders will square off against the Oxon Hill Clippers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eleanor Roosevelt's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over Laurel. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

A big part of Eleanor Roosevelt's win came down to the chemistry between Jaleel Holeman and his top target Donte Whitaker. Holeman rushed for 73 yards and one TD on only nine carries while Whitaker gained 81 total yards and two touchdowns.

Oxon Hill never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bladensburg on Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-0 victory over the Mustangs. Given the Clippers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Mustangs are ranked 207th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eleanor Roosevelt better keep an eye on Cody McMickens. He was instrumental in Oxon Hill's win, rushing for 43 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave McMickens a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Terrence Goode Jr, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Oxon Hill, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Goode Jr, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Oxon Hill's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Eleanor Roosevelt beat Oxon Hill 28-18 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Clippers' Cameron Azodeh, who rushed for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
