Basketball Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. Yutan Chieftains

Palmyra is 1-9 against Yutan since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Palmyra Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Yutan Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Palmyra is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 65-61 W over Conestoga on Tuesday.

Palmyra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Hippen, who went 7 of 10 en route to 14 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Kassebaum, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yutan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Ashland-Greenwood by a score of 55-46 on Tuesday.

Yutan's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Palmyra, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Palmyra came up short against Yutan in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 56-49. Thankfully for Palmyra, Nolan Timm (who posted 31 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
