With a playoff win on the line, Wake Forest rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lumberton Pirates a 4-0 shutout. Considering Wake Forest have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Lumberton with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from C. Evans (2), H. Soden, and G. Powell.

Wake Forest pushed their record up to 11-7-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those five matches. As for Lumberton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11-1.
