Softball Recap: Newburgh Free Academy Takes a Loss

Newburgh Free Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kingston, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Goldbacks fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Goldbacks have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Parker Mullarkey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn LeClair, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

With the loss, Newburgh Free Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6. As for Kingston, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

Coming up, Newburgh Free Academy will be playing at home against Beacon at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Kingston, they will venture away from home to square off against Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
